I am a rising senior class of 2017. I have taken the act 5xs(first couple i was sick) and i have gotten 28s on two ( superscore 29) i want atleast a 30 and i want to know if i should take it one more time.( will colleges care/know? I need to improve 1 pt in any subscore cuz i have a 29.25 right now, english math and science i can get 30s, only reading is harming me) i have an unweighted gpa of around 3.83+ and weighted of 4.4+. I am in honors academy, njhs, beta, mu alpha theta, horizons, and have volunteered at a library. I played bball for my middle school but not for high school(does this help my application) i am most likely majoring in computers. I have taken many honors and aps. Can yall give me feedback please? My interests are:
- Unc chapel hill
- Georgia tech
- Florida
- Florida state
- Georgia
I live in TN So this is out of state, if possible list some other schools that might fit me. Thanks
taking the same test too many (more than 3) times is looked down on and probably a waste of time bc after 3 it is unlikely that your score will change. You could might try taking the SAT instead?(The new one is more similar to the ACT so you should be fine prepping for it).
If i feel like i can still improve(because im really only lacking in one subject) should i take it again? Besides paying and all that, is there an actual downside where colleges can tell how many times i take it? Or can i really choose to send a couple to superscore(not all scores) also i understand applying to colleges early is best, if i take it sept during senior year( i will get scores back during sept) will that hurt my chances for early application? Thanks
im not sure about the colleges on your list but a lot of colleges require that you send every score. Similarly a lot of colleges do superscore while some don’t. Check each college to see how they look at scores and then make a decision. Taking it Sept should be fine as long as you get the scores before the early action date. Only take it again if you’re certain that you’ll have a significant increase bc I doubt 1 point will have that much of an impact on you decision and the rest of you application seems strong.
Ok thank you, do you know when early action is?(like the month in general) and if the colleges do not require every score, would it be ok to take it more times?(like will they truly look only at what i send them) again thanks for the feedback
Again check with each college but it’s usually around Nov 1st.
