What are my chances?

I’m a senior at a small HS (67) and I just applied to Dartmouth ED. What are my chances?

SAT: 1250
Rank: #5
GPA: 4.0

I’m involved in a plethora of extracurriculars – Key club, band, jazz band, piano accompanist, NHS, academic decathlon, some other minor things. I also play in a professional band where I was recruited and hired.

I’m very involved in sports, also.
-Soccer- 3 year varsity player, 2 time all-star, captain
-Club soccer- captain
-Cross Country

  • XC Skiing
  • Track- 4 year varsity runner, school record in 4x800 relay
  • Basketball- captain

I also submit a music portfolio of me playing piano. I’m hoping being a well rounded student, athlete, and musician can outweigh my standardized test scores. Dartmouth is my dream school.

I retook the SAT in November, so hopefully I can get it up at least 100 points.

A low SAT but a high GPA may bring up the concept of your school having grade inflation, but if your recs are really good, I think it’ll be fine. However, a 1250 is considerably below Dartmouth’s 25th percentile, and without any hooks, it will be very difficult to get in.

Awesome stats you’re in !
