Thank you in advance for your input on what my chances might be for acceptance from the following schools: UCSC,
UCD and CSULB.
Ultimately I will be going to grad school to major in Occupational Therapy. I would like to do my undergrad in Psychology or Child Development/Family Studies.
My UW GPA is 3.67 and W is 3.79. My SAT is 1200 (550 math/650 EBRW).
My EC is not very strong. I’ve been on a swim team for 13 years, high school swim team for 2 years, Girl Scouts for 9 years with a Gold award, I have done a little community volunteering, and a service trip to Costa Rica working with a village school for 2 weeks. Primarily I am an artist with an decent portfolio.
Not currently, however there is a strong chance that y family will be moving to Huntington Beach the second semester of my senior year having me graduate from a high school that is within the local area. Here are my calculations:
Unweighted: 3.46
Weighted: 3.79
Weighted and Capped GPA : 3.79
For the Cal States, they admit by Eligibility index (CSU/UC GPA capped weighted x800) + (SAT Math+EBWR) so your EI is 4232. That EI should make your competitive for all the Cal States (exception Cal Poly SLO)
For the UC’s:
UCSC would be a Match-High Match. UC GPA and SAT scores are within range but below average.
UCD would be a High Match-Low Reach. UC GPA is below the 25th percentile (3.95) and SAT is just at the 25th percentile.
Have you considered UC Riverside which would be a Match school for you?
I believe your best chances would be at the Cal States, UCR and possibly UCSC.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79(Capped Weighted) and not major specific:
