Hi so I am a senior currently in high school and I want to calculate my chances of getting into only University Of Chicago. My gpa is 4.0 and since University Of Chicago is test-optional I’m not going to send my scores but I am in 2 big clubs right now for about 2-3 years now and I am currently taking golf for my senior year(my other school didn’t have golf.) So i just want to calculate my chances of getting in.
If there was an accurate way to calculate chances, UChicago students and alum would be all over it. Unfortunately, there are so many factors that play into the decision - including many subjective, beyond your control and unknowable to others, such as the quality of your essays, how many other applicants with your general sort of app are applying, geographic diversity, etc - there is no accurate way to truly calculate chances.
If you’ve taken a rigorous course load, your GPA shows you’re probably capable of the work, so that’s positive. Without test scores the rest of your app will need to be very strong. The way you’ve described your ECs doesn’t sound very interesting or appealing, but that could just be because you’re summarizing for the sake of a brief post. If there’s some legit heft behind your EC work and you write great essays that show you’re what UChicago is looking for, you’ve got at least a chance. If prior trends hold true, you’d have a greater chance of admissions in the ED1 or ED2 round than in either EA or RD.
OP why are you not sending your scores? What else do you have in your application that will make test scores unnecessary? What admission plan are you shooting for, and are you also applying to other schools (since it’s not a good idea to hang your hat on a school that admits about 6% of applicants).
It’s hard to predict what will or won’t move an admission committee. Most of your application is baked into the cake at this point. However, you still have your essays as an important way to distinguish yourself from other applicants. Have a great - even unusual - reason for wanting to attend UChicago, and be sure to convey that clearly and eloquently. Go to town with the Uncommon Essay prompt of your choice. Make sure to have your writing reviewed by an adult who can give you feedback for grammar, clarity, and level of engagement. Then you will have done what you need to do in order to maximize your chances of being accepted.
