hi guys,
im a student at the university of florida majoring finance and mathematics...i want to transfer to another university now hopefully in the top 10...these are my choices below...and my GPA is 3.77 and im not applying for fin. aid and my SAT 1 scores are 1910... and SAT 2 of 1480/1600 so please tell me what my chances are for each of these colleges..im also part of the honors program here and will def. get strong recommendations

1) Upenn
2) UVA
3) U.michigan
4) NYU
5) Cornell
6) Carnegie Mellon - Tepper
7) UNC - chapel hill
8) UC berkeley
9) Georgetown - really wanna go here (second choice after penn)
10) Emory or notre dame...

Your GPA is pretty solid, but your SAT I scores are mediocre for Ivies and similar schools. With great recommendations and stellar essays, your chances for Penn are average if you're lucky.

Penn - Reject
UMich - Reach
NYU - Match
Cornell - Reach
UCB - Reach

would it help if i did my SAT1s again? im confident of scoring upwards of 2100 possibly even 2200...but someone told SATs matter much less when you're transferring..and also I did my IB in a UWC....so won't that actually compromise for my mediocre sat scores

are you a freshman transferring as a sophmore? because that makes a difference in SAT scores. the older you are the less important you become, but they will look at them if you're only a freshman

im a sophomore transferring as a junior....so im guessing my SAT scores are less relevant now....and UF is a great college to be honest and im very satisfied as well...i mean if u get into the honors program then its fantastic..the quality of classes in the honors program is that of ivy leagues but im a business major and i really want to go to a place that is really top notch

I don't think you would be able to get into Tepper simply due to availability issues. On their transfer website I believe they state that there hasn't been room in the program for several years now.

If you're applying to Berkeley's Haas School of Business, you need to make sure you have the right prerequisites completed and/or planned. The admissions stats on the Haas website showed last year out of ~1300 applicants, 800 were ineligible because they didn't have the prereqs. Out of the ~400 eligible applicants, only ~90 were admitted.

thanks for the tip...though i really doubt haas is within my reach...it would be great if i got in though...derekc4...i agree with u...warrington isnt bad at all...its like no.14 for finance and there are some pretty good recruiters but in order for me to work for the bulge bracket firms in wall street i need to get into one of the top 8 business schools...im pushing for uva actually...i know its that hard to get in....and its amazing
