Bio:

Senior this upcoming year.

I come from a poor family, so I'll need a lot of aid.

3.7 GPA UW, don't know yet what the weighted average is.

1780 SAT (500 Math, 570 CR, 710 Writing)

Very little EC/community service.

5 AP Classes (3 will be in my senior year; Psych, Bio, and English Lit.) 4 on English Lang. and 5 on US History.

Looking to major in Political Science or something of the like.

I live in New York state.

The List:

CUNY Hunter College
Howard University (I know it's historically black, and I am white, but that doesn't bother me.)
SUNY Albany
SUNY Buffalo
SUNY New Paltz
SUNY Stony Brook
Touro College
University of Pittsburgh

I just hope I have enough safeties on the list...I may retake the SAT and may take the ACT depending on whether I decide I want to apply early action or not.

And I have also had a part-time job working at a nursing home since Feb. 2007 and I am assuming I will still have it until I leave for college.

They must not be very good!

The only one I can be sure of is Hunter. You'll probably get into New Paltz, Albany, and Buffalo. I don't know enough about the others to tell you.

Since you're in-state, your tuition will be little to nothing at a CUNY or SUNY school. Good luck!

You've got a decent chance at Pitt, even coming out of state, though it'll be expensive. Their aid isn't incredibly impressive, either. I'd look at the New York schools as first choices.

Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful.

Thanks for the responses guys, keep 'em coming!

Also, I think the average SAT for Stony Brook is a bit higher than what yours is, so you might want to take that again and aim for the 1200s (for math and reading).

Again, sorry that I'm not extremely helpful here. You're probably not getting a lot of responses because you've got a list of schools that differ from what's usually seen on these boards.

Yeah, not everyone can get into Harvard and MIT, lol

Hehe, I could never get into the Ivies, either. So yay for us!...wait. Ah, whatever. Good luck with your search and the application process.

I think you're a good match for Howard, too, if it means anything. You're well placed in their SAT range, and you've got a really good GPA. That should help you at a lot of the schools. Oh, and bravo on the writing section of the SATs. That's impressive. Writing was my best, too. Of course, most colleges blow that part off. Go figure.

You have a decent shot at the CUNY and SUNYs except Stony Brook might be more of a reach or a high match because of your SATs.

That's going to look really good on your applications, by the way.

Thanks for all the responses!
