So, I realized yesterday that I haven't posted a what are my chances in a very long time. Thus, I have to ask you what are my chances.

I've been collecting all my highschool data so far in a document called resume:

http://www.freewebs.com/sagar_indurkhya/Documents/Sagar%20Indurkhya%20Resume.htm

I apologize if it is a little showoffish, but I tried hard when writing my resume to keep it a little modest at the least.

So what would you say are my chances?

Wait till junior year before posting thsi question Sagar. Even though you don't seem to have anything currently that is simply AMAZING that would lure MIT in, you're on the right track. What's your score on the AIME???

um...I'm not good at math competitions... so I didn't make AIME last year.

This is also sort of a what are my chances for RSI aswell.

How can I do something amazing that would get me in?

I work on a lot of independent projects. Would I be better spending more time on taking more AP's, studying for AMC/AIME, etc? I do USACO, and I think I will get somewhere respectable this year.

In the last 4 years, we've had two kids from our school get into MIT, and they each took only 5 AP's by senior year. But one was really passionate about Physics (I don't think any competitions, but took Modern Physics and Quantum Mechanics) and the other was a beast at robotics.
AP's won't get you anywhere..... following a passion will. If you don't like math competitions, don't study for them. If you don't like volunteering, don't do it. Just excel in what you love, and looking at your posts, it seems to be programming. My $.02.
Good luck!

How much does going to a highschool where lots of kids go to MIT help?

From my high school, 11 kids got in last year.

Well, I don't think it's about the high school. It's not the high school that MIT accepts, it's you.

As someone mentioned earlier (sorry, in a rush, normally I'd give credit), as long as you follow your passion you'll be perfectly fine. Don't do anything to GET IN to MIT. Just do what makes you happy. Fulfill your curiosities.

Then put that on your application.
