What are my chances !

Hi, I'm a senior in high school. I have a mixture of A's and B+'s. What are my chances of getting into Seoul National University. I am not korean. None of my parents are.

Actually, fairly good. Are you a young native English speaker? This sounds discriminatory but it’s true: the schools in Korea have an unofficial quota to meet set by the government but they haven’t been close for the last several years. If you are a native English speaker you have a resource that they want because you could tutor Korean students there. If you don’t speak Korean it’s not a problem because they will just limit your credits until you improve. And most of the course materials are in English or have an English option. I’d say if you have a GPA of 3.6, good English scores, and impress them with the personal statements on your application you are a shoe-in. You may need teacher recommendations though, remember.

As for my sources, I am good friends with a graduate student currently attending SNU, a professor who graduated with a doctorate from SNU, and I have applied to go next fall!

Thank You for your reply. I really appreciate your advice. I’ve submitted my application for Spring 2011. Good Luck :)
