What are my chances?

I'm trying to determine what schools I should apply to for admission into fall 2006 law school...I graduated with a BS in Bus. Mgt from Clemson University with a 2.8 GPA. I made a 160 on my LSAT. I graduated this past December ('04) and have been working as a legal assistant at a fairly well connected law firm in Charleston, SC. I plan to continue working here until the end of next summer when I hope to begin law school. I've looked at all of the websites detailing the range of scores and and gpas that constitute the lower and upper ranges of accepted students...but I what I want to know is, will my grades kill my chances of getting in to a decent school? I'm looking at Miami, Florida State, Univ. of South Carolina, the new Charleston School of Law (still not yet accredited), Univ. San Diego, Univ. Colorado, Univ. Florida and UGA. I had a 1.26 my freshman year first semester, but then followed that up with a 4.0 for the second semester. I've been reading how important the personal statement is (especially in situations like this)...but I don't know if I should try to explain my poor gpa by writing about the multitude of terrible things that happened to my family and me throughout my college experience, or if I should just try to write about what I do well and how I can make a differnce/add to the student body, etc...I know I can do the work...I just have to get in...HELP!

Really need a little help here...bump...;)

Clemsonj - You may want to check out the Law School Discussion web site and then pose your question in the forum of the universities you listed (Law School Discussion web site/Students & Graduates'/Discussion/School Specific Boards). You may get the answer you're looking for there.

Hope that helps, and good luck with your application process.

It's not clear from your message whether you've already done the obvious and looked at the official odds predictor. If not, go to
