What are my changes? Please help!

Ok so I'm in my 3rd year at a Community College. I was hoping on transferring to Cal State San Bernardino next fall, so I will need to apply soon. The problem is that I did very bad my first 2 years. I am doing better now but I met with a counselor and she told me that I won't be able to get in because I have a GPA of 1.845 and I need a 2.0 plus the 60 units. I have few more classes left to take and if I did the math right by the end of spring I should have my GPA up plus all my units. I was thinking of just going ahead and apply and see if I can get in. So what are my chances of getting in? Also what is longest someone could wait until they know wether or not they got in? I am worry because my parents do not know that I'm doing bad and think that I am for sure going to transfer next fall. If I don't get in what do I tell them? Another thing is that if I don't get in it's no big deal for me I'll just transfer in the winter/spring but what would I do if I get all my classes I need done by the end of spring? Will I still need to attend school (community college) during the summer/fall? Hope someone can help. Thanks.
