<p>As a fellow OOS applicant to Carolina, my advice would be to make sure you have lots of other places you’d be enthusiastic about attending. Because you can sugar coat it all you want, but the fact is that only 18% of the total spots are up for grabs to OOS applicants, and that’s a miniscule number when you consider all the outstanding kids applying to UNC. </p>
<p>The SAT thing is a worry for me to, although I’m a little higher at 2090 (1410 Math & CR), but especially my unweighted GPA is a cause of concern. I’m only at a 3.53 (should be 3.6+ by end of 1st semester senior year though), although I did include a statement about how challenging it was to adapt from a lackluster private school to a big IB public school, and how I’ve worked harder to succeed. Also I put a lot into writing my essays.</p>
<p>So I don’t know, at this point my confidence in acceptance is pretty low. But I’m confident that I’d be just as happy if not more happy at my number 2 school, so I’m not all that stressed out about it.</p>
