I’ve done a little bit of research and I still haven’t got a definitive answer. Websites say that a biology, chemistry, physics, or earth science major counts as a natural science major. Would majors like biochem, chem e, and biomedical e be considered as natural science majors as well?
Chem E and Biomedical E would be under Engineering majors. I would classify Biochemistry under Natural Sciences and although Physics/Chemistry are classified as Natural Sciences, you could put them under Physical Sciences also.
Where colleges place these majors is very college dependent but Chem E and Biomedical E are almost always under the College of Engineering.
Natural science includes physical science such as physics, astronomy, geology, chemistry, as well as biological science.
The distinction between science and engineering is that science is the study of the natural universe, while engineering is the application of principles and findings from science to solve design problems.
