what kind of traveling opps? like to mexico? (flying sams) or to other UC campuses? (can represent UCSD in student government for UC regents) to foreign countries? (uhh … good luck.)

is it really hard to study abroad at ucsd? ='( boo hoo.

It’s not difficult to study abroad while at UCSD…you don’t need to join a club or anything to do it. I think I read somewhere that out of all of the UCs, UCSD has the highest study abroad rate…but don’t quote me on that.

come to admit day and there will be clubs on library walk. i think clubs are on library walk advertising during welcome week as well.

alternative breaks is one.

for winter admits, is it harder to join or find out about clubs?? whats the best way to find out about the clubs/join them?

@HamzG: thank you !!

Traveling abroad isn’t normally something that the campus orgs do. You’ll just have to inquire more information from EAP/EOP/etc. regarding where and what you want to study.

If I’m not mistaken all UCSD students receive enough study abroad spam to last a lifetime. You’ll find something since the opportunities are pretty much handed on a silver plate to you.

the majority of people i know (if not all) who have studied abroad, loved it! it’s not hard at all, and the requirements are not difficult. like someone mentioned, you don’t have to be in a club to do this, but you do meet many people.

what are you interested in? i have friends who are in pre-dental society, and they have traveled to mexico, australia, and many other places, volunteering and getting some hands on experience. the club selects people for these missions. i’m sure there are other service clubs that offer traveling experiences similar to this.

for finding clubs, that website above is good, you can contact someone for more info — or you could also just walk up and down library walk (long strip in front of the library) during your first week here and there will be many people passing out flyers with more info— clubs, orgs, frats, sororities…all trying in hopes of recruiting you.

a lot of free events such as bbqs, other food related stuff, parties, etc can make the first week really fun. don’t waste your meal points your first week, just go to the free events in your college. hehehe

If you want to get involved, don’t ignore the spam. Eventually other programs will open up to you as well.
