What are people writing for the why did you become interested in Brown?

How much work should we put in? Is it enough to say my counsellor reccommended it? and if we know an undergraduate do we have to name them??

i did, anyway...

i dunno. i was perplexed by that one. especially since they wanted 900 characters for it, or whatever it was... iersgjkdhlfgbk

i think most people just answered in a non-exciting, honest way.

I made mine a little interesting. It was a true story too, and no, I didn't mention names. I personally think it was fun to write. I can only hope the admissions officers find it as fun to read.

edit: but it's only 900 characters so you can just go straight to the point. I think this is very subjective - it's up to you to deal with the question how you will. Maybe they're examining your writing ability. Maybe they're observing how you answer the question. Maybe they want to evaluate your interest level. Who knows?

thanx guys :) I was also thinking of going straight to the point..I mean they give u the example of the website...lol...so I guess simple and to the point is goood....good luck guys!

Yeah that statement didn't take me long to write, which is a good thing because i was on a time crunch for the ED deadline

mandolive, i'm interested in how you answered it

would you mind pming me your response and i'll send you mine so we can compare?

I just answered the question straight up. With 900 characters, there wasn't much room to go creative and play around. I think I wrote like 3-4 sentences?

The other question, the one with 1600 characters that asked about interests and why Brown would be a fit for that, I actually put a little more time into. I turned out to be pretty good I guess, and I answered the question, but with a little more personal touch I guess you could say.

I wrote mine about Summer@Brown and then realized that it was probably the same type of stuff I'd write in my "Why Brown?", which I haven't written yet... sooo I'll see where that ends up, lol.

Bicycle - sure, no problem. Sending now :)

^ sent. you did apply ED right?
if not, please don't copy or share it :D

haha, yeah i applied ED

I mentioned "Varsity Blues." I figure it will either get some laughs or I'll be auto-rejected haha
