Hey all. I am a Male from New York who goes to one of the top public high schools on Long Island. I am just wondering what colleges would not only fit me academically, but my interests as well. Just to get it out there, I definitely want an academically invigorating environment and I believe that my grades show it.

GPA: 3.7 UW
PSAT: 202 (80 M, 61 CR, 61 W) Commended Scholar
APs: AP European History (4), AP Lang and Comp, APUSH, AP Psych, AP Biology, AP Government, AP Calc AB and AP Literature (did not take the AP exams for them yet)
SAT II's: Math II - 740, Math I -- 690, Biology -- 690

Okay, here are some things that I am looking for in a college/university:

Like Medium sized or even smaller is okay, but nothing below like 1000 kids in freshman class

In the Northeast

Academically envigorating

Not too obsessed with sports, but school spirit is okay

Not too much of a party school, but some partying is nice

Diverse student body

Give me some input please, anything helps =)

What do you want to study? Is money an issue? Since you're from NY, you may well get into better schools outside the NE, will you consider anywhere else?

Money is an issue, I will apply to financial aid to all of the colleges except for SUNYs

I want to go for Psychology major most likely.

I would totally consider somewhere else, but not TOO far away (as long as it is in the USA) =)

U of Rochester seems like a good choice for you. You might want to take a look at Fordham Rose Hill.

I'd also look at the University of Pittsburgh Honors College and perhaps Carnegie Mellon. Depending on how you feel about Boston--I think it's a fabulous place to go to college--you might want to look at Boston University and Boston College.

Your size and location factors make it rather difficult. Most good universities with mid-sized undergrad populations in the north east are super-selective.
