What are some common cross-admit pairs and who generally ends up winning?

No one is trashing any other school. Duke wins more cross admit battles against Cornell and is the more “preferred” school. That’s all. END THREAD.

Can anyone with experience answer this matchup?

NYU Stern vs. Umich Ross

ugh duke battles give me such a headache. some people hate on it for no good reason, and when a few people try to stand up for the school, its students are categorically deemed arrogant. and yes, i agree that some people may bash on peer schools or whatever, but thats common from students at all schools.

are you kidding me? there is elitism in every top-25 university. :/

NYU Stern vs. Umich Ross

Any takers?

eatsalot. I think you have your argument backwards:

“ugh duke battles give me such a headache. some people hate on it for no good reason, and when a few people try to stand up for the school, its students are categorically deemed arrogant. and yes, i agree that some people may bash on peer schools or whatever, but thats common from students at all schools.”

It’s too many of the Duke backers on CC who hate on other schools for no good reason.

ArminAS. Your question would be best answered in the “Business Major” section under the “Discussion Home” menu.

For the record, I didn’t even start this Duke vs Cornell argument. Some Cornell Ahole just started a war over my comments which were directly in line with the reason for this thread. Then I got s* for it and tried to defend my argument. Cornell started this battle so don’t even start with the “Duke elitist” theory. Cornell has more self-concious people then Duke bar none.

And I do have a good reason for hating Cornell. Its the people who look down on other schools for no being part of the oh so spectacular “Ivy League.” Cornell does not deserve to even be part Ivy and has no right to look down on others. Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Penn, HYP they are phenominal and have clout. Cornell just wishes it does then flaunts itself like its on par with the others. That is why I hate Cornell.

Thanks rjkofnovi, I’ll start a thread for it in Business Majors.

animas,
Qualitatively, both are good undergrad B-schools, but if you’re looking for a job on Wall Street…and if you are good…, then NYU Stern is going to give you a slight advantage. With any I-bank you want to make contact with, it’s just a quick subway ride away and this proximity can’t be underestimated. Sometimes you can just stumble into opportunities that you’d never have had if not for being physically situated on Manhattan. Also, don’t underestimate the large numbers of NYU Stern grads around the Street. They can provide a nice network to tap into.

Having said all of the above, I personally would choose U Michigan or some other program with a strong undergrad B-school (U Virginia, Notre Dame, U Texas, U Richmond, U North Carolina, Wake Forest are all ranked by Business Week ahead of NYU) and a more traditional all-around college experience. I like the undergraduate experience that provides a balance of good academics, good social life and good athletic life. I don’t like the lack of cohesiveness of NYU with little to no campus, no unified student body and no athletic life. To me, the slight advantage of Stern does not outweigh these differences. For you, it might be a different conclusion.

I have been on these boards a lot longer than 62 posts andy_college09. I respectfully disagree with your assessment. Well at least here on CC. I cannot say what you’ve experienced in CT. I will say that making disparaging remarks about a peer school doesn’t make you look any different than the people you’re complaining about.

I appologize for my comments. They were a tad over-the-top. Cornell IS a great school and I do believe the difference in prestige between the two institutions is negligible. In fact, one of my best friends is going to Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences to major in history. I was trying to say that Duke is a great institution as well and I feel people are not giving it the credit it deserves. That was all that I was trying to say. If the comments offended the Big Red, I am sorry.
