<p>Avoid the same old stuff you would expect from any ordinary joe. Topics like, family issues, personal hardships, sports, mom as inspiration, etc.</p>
<p>Go for something REALLY different. Different enough to make you stand out. Your idea of garden salad v. melting pot seems interesting, although I don’t quite understand it. Good Luck!</p>

<p>Choose whatever topic allows for your most personal, detailed and revealing essay. Aim for an essay that is so personal, so you, that only you could write it.</p>
<p>Forget about whether or not other people may have written on your topic. If your essay is personal, detailed, and revealing, it won’t matter who else may have written on the topic. </p>
<p>It’s not the topic: it’s what you do with the topic.</p>
