What are some good AP's to take during 10th grade?

My 10th grade class schedule isn't rigorous or exciting in any way so I've decided to self study 4-6 AP's this year. The problem is, I'm not too sure which ones to do. So far, I've been considering AP Euro, AP Bio, AP Psych, AP Comp Sci, AP Art History, Ap HG, AP USGP, and AP Comp Gov. I want to do a good number but I don't want to do ones that won't help me in any way(i.e Art History). Can you give me 4-6 AP's that are good for a 10th grader(and actually have value)? Are AP Stats, AP (micro/macro)Economics and AP Physics good self studies? If you can give me 4-6 of the AP's I just wrote about or that you recommend that I should self study, I'd appreciate it.

Don’t forget you still need to excel in your course load.

If you won’t enjoy self studying the course don’t take it.

I would enjoy APUSH, AP us government, AP physics B, AP English Lang AP calc.

Those are the AP classes i’ll take. Don’t take an AP class just to get a 4-5

Stat and econ can be self studied fairly easy, IMO. I bought a prep book for both and it seems pretty easy. I’ve yet to work through all of it yet, though. It depends on which AP Phys you get to self study, and if you have already taken a physics class. Let me know which of those you wanted.

Just realized you’re the person I’ve been talking to ;D

I heard that psych is incredibly easy, as is art history. Compsci is usually a joke if you’re good with java. APUSH is just reading a textbook then AMSCO. I also agree that Econ and stats are fairly easy.

Remember not to self-study any that you can take a class for later in high school. For sophomore year, I’d recommend: Biology, Comp. Gov, Human Geography, English Language, Computer Science, and Statistics.

Some fairly “easy” APs to self-study are micro/macro econ., APUSH/APWH, psych, and maybe even bio.

Environmental science and human geography are considered some of the “easiest” APs, but the problem with them is that many colleges don’t accept these exams for credit.

I would avoid self-studying calc, chem, physics, lit & comp. I would only take the exam for these if I were in a corresponding class.

Note I have easy in “” because no single AP is easy (especially to self-study), unless you’re a genius…in that case kudos to you.

Is there no way to change your schedule? You may want to contact your counselor and see if you can switch into a few more challenging classes and take it easy on the self-studying.

I took AP Human Geo and AP Psych as a 10th grader. I would recommend those two! Most of the subject matter is interesting. From what I have heard, AP Art History and AP Environmental Science are two other good options.

Don’t forget to enjoy high school! You don’t have to self study 4-6 AP’s to be a great student. If you have a small homework load, get involved in community service and extracurricular activities that interest you. Extra time can be spent in a variety of great ways! Delegating extra time to community service and the like may be more rewarding in the long run. Just my advice!

I’m assuming you didn’t take any APs freshmen year? I’m an upcoming sophmore and this year I’m taking Psych and HuG (last year I took World History) 4-6 seems like a lot for self study sophomore year. Take 2-3

^^ In NY, its RARE for someone to take an AP in 9th grade. Im going to try atleast 4. My school gives about 2 hours of HW MAX a night and with that extra time, I can study for the AP’s. After a month or so, I should know if it’s too much for me and if it is, I’ll drop 1 or 2.

Note that the “easy self study APs” are mostly the ones that are least useful for subject credit at a university. The most useful ones are things like English Literature, Calculus BC, foreign languages, Biology, Chemistry, Physics C.

Most of the useful ones that you listed, I’m not ready for this year. Probably’ll take them in 11th grade
