I really like LACs

I have

Pomona
Occidental

can you think of any others ones?

on my list so far, but i need some safeties

Redlands, St. Marys, Chapman....

The rest of the Claremont Colleges and Mills College.

I'm not sure that Pomona would be considered a saftey though...

Pomona, Harvey Mudd, and Claremont McKenna are few people's safeties. Some strong candidates have occidental as a safety, slightly weaker ones have Chapman and Redlands, but a great deal of people who get into the "best" most well-known schools are often rejected from the three Claremonts i mentioned.

Check out Pitzer.

If you're like reallly really desparate for safeties then check out Whittier. hahaha Not to hate on that school or anything

Mills if you are a girl.

Is Mills really a safety? Can you get in if you are a B student?

Also, Scripps if you're female.

The sad part about California is that there just aren't many good smaller liberal arts colleges. We've pretty much liksted them all in 9 posts. :(

Mills takes plenty of B female students. The U of Redlands is another school that seems open to B students. Both would be solid safeties for someone with stats for Occidental.

If you consider Occidental a match, Scripps would not be a safety, in my opinion, but a match. Pitzer is a little less selective and might be a safety for some people.

Not exactly liberal arts colleges, but worth a look: Santa Clara U, University of San Diego and Chapman. They would probably be safeties for some people.

Just wanted to note that I don't think Pitzer is necessarily the "safety" it is often made out to be. while the "easiest" of the Claremont schools to gain admission, it is increasingly becoming more selective and it takes in a very small 1st year class.

I think the suggestion above is an excellent one-to check out some smaller schools that may not be the classic LAC, but may serve the purpose (Uof San Diego, Chapman, Santa Clara, St. Mary's, LaVerne, Redlands, Whittier, Loyola Marymount, Cal Lutheran, maybe even Pepperdine)

there are very few california LAC safeties. CA LACs are just too popular. pomona, CMC, harvey mudd are NOBODYS safeties. occidetanl in my opinion is nobodys safety. there are far too many applicants. pitzer cannot legitimately be a safety, there are 250 spots and thousands of applicants that are rising rapidly each year.

some CA small private colleges easy to get into: santa clara, redlands, whittier, u of san diego, u of san francisco

chapman and LMU are a step above in selectivity. i don't think they can be safeties unless you're ivy caliber.

Biola? That's here right?

I disagree, namaste. Occidental and Pitzer can legitimately be safeties for some people. It doesn't really matter, though. What matters is what happens when YOU apply.

U of the Pacific

oxy and pitzer can legitimately be safeties for very few. pitzer overenrolled last year, they have 250 spaces, there are probably 25 people on CC alone that want to go there.

I agree with DRab. Safeties are relative to each individual. What might be a reach for one student could be a safety to another. One can't generalize.

Everyone is right. We should have asked the original poster to specify his/her stats.
