<p>What exactly is the relevance of this? There's a big difference between a program that is highly ranked and a program that is difficult (in terms of grading). You can have a highly ranked program that nonetheless gives out easy grades. Stanford and many of the Ivies are well known for having lots of highly ranked departments that are nonetheless grade inflated. </p>
<p>To give you an example. Stanford actually has a higher ranked biology department than does MIT or Caltech. But of the 3, which one do you think grades its undergrads the easiest? I think even most Biology majors at Stanford would concur that their grading is probably easier than it is at MIT or Caltech.</p>
