hi i was wondering if i could get some suggestions for good scholarships. i am currently a jr. in high school but i am trying to plan ahead. any help would be gratefully accepted.

if you're a junior, look into the discover card scholarship.

Also, check around your community to find out local scholarships available. Some of the best can be found by those offered by employers of you or your folks or sometimes other family members. Also check in to organizations your family belongs to, some also offer scholarships.
What state do you live in? You can check to see if your state participates with other states in any exchange programs where they give discounted tuition if you attend a state school in a neighboring school (if you would like to attend school out of state & not pay the huge out-of-state tuition). There are several agreements between states out there, so you need to investigate & if you find a program & participating school you like that accepts you, you could save your family a lot of money!

about that discover card scholarship do i apply as a junior? or do i wait until my senior year to apply for it?

I am a resident of CA and am planning to apply to UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego and University of the Pacific

i was also wondering if there are some scholarships that can be applied for as a junior in high school. can anyone help me out?

can anybody help me at all?

you need to do your own research -- no one knows your stats and interests like you do. researching scholarships takes time.

get a pencil and a pad of paper and check out the links on this thread:

good luck

questbridge.org if you're low income

Discover Card Tribute Award - you can ONLY apply in junior yr

Some scholarships have deadlines EARLY in senior yr (Sept, Oct) so write your essays over the summer if possible. You'll be busy doing college apps in the early fall (if applying EA/ED) and taking SATs or ACTs and may not have time to think about scholarship apps and by Dec it's too late for some of the scholarships - so do your research now and make a list and be ready...

Target has some good scholarships. You should also look in to essay contests and competitions.
