What are some GOOD SCHOOLs

Hey, i was wonderin, wat is the process for medical wannabees in UK/europe.
Like here we do 2-4yrs of undergrad, take MCATS, and then Apply to medschool for 4 yrs and then the whole deal with residency/internship.

Medical school usually starts right after high school here in Europe. Courses take five to six years and then you start residency..
You must take an aptitude test and/or do an interview in some countries. However, in some countries admission is based on your GPA or your grades at leaving exams only..

There are a very few graduate programs in the UK that only take four years. Admission requirements are about the same as in the US (high GPA in your undergraduate studies, major in a subject related to medicine), but you don't take the MCAT..

I could tell you a lot about admission requirements, but I don't know what and how much you want to know.. ^^

I am not familiar with what you said. So I can't help you.

in the UK, as someone said, you usually go to medical school immediately after high school. it's essentially a bachelor's degree in medicine. I believe at Oxford, for instance, they only accept something like 5 American medical students per year (and you already need a bachelor's degree, which means it's not only impossible to get in, but it also takes longer, probably costs more money, and you don't even get a doctoral degree out of it). but I checked two years ago and my memory isn't perfect, so I might be wrong about all this.

Oxford only accepts ** 7 foreign medical students ** per year maximum, and I've never met one who is American. For all UK medical schools there is a quota of how many UK/EU students they have to take to fill up the NHS (National Health Service. Nationalised medical institution) training places first. Only if they have any spaces left do they take any foreign students. Nearly all of these are from Commonwealth countries such as India and Singapore, where they qualifications will be valid and they can work as medics staright away in their home countries on completion. I'm not a medical students so I don't know what it would entail exactly, but I do know you cannot qualify in the UK and go straight home and practice medicine in the US. You would hav to take lots of tests again to satisfy the US requirements. I've never met a US medical student here and I suspect that's the reason. As far as I'm aware the 4-year graduate course at Oxford is currently accepting EU students only.
