What are some things that every college female freshman should know?

Any tips or advice? I mean things that they can expect or situations that they may come across and how to stay safe. Theres not one thing that Im concerned about. Im just looking for advice and experiences that others have gone through.

Good command of English language, basic science, and maybe pre-calc.

That is a sarcastic response because your question is vague. If you have something you’re concerned about ask about it. Give some direction here, not just “What should I know?”

Get involved in as much as you can, have school spirit.

Trust your instincts.

I think the OP maybe referring to being safe(?) while at school. Just be careful if you’re going out where there are people/areas that you aren’t very familiar with. Trust your instincts–a very good idea.

How about: twenty different ways to say NO.

Males often confuse the similarities of No for Yes.

Read the book: The Gift of Fear.

Okay, soo it seems like guys are probably going to be a problem.

Especially if you plan on partaking in “greek life”.

I doubt I’ll have anything to do with that. Can you explain the “greek life” thing to me?

What college freshmen should know? You’re all about to become apart of a very large machine

My first month of school I went out to a club with my roommate. When we were walking back afterward, she was on the phone with her friend and some drunk guy approached us to ask if we had a lighter. She told him no and then he proceeded to follow us. I didn’t have my phone and had to REPEATEDLY tell my roommate to ■■■■ the phone with her friend and call the police. After he had followed us several blocks she did, the cops stayed on the line with us until they could get an officer to us, we rode around in the cop car to see if the guy was still in the area and then we were taken home. When we got home she said that if she had been alone she would have panicked and would never have called the police. Don’t do that. If EVER you suspect that something is not right, even something more subtle than a drunk following you home, just call the police. It won’t hurt any if they come to check something out and there is nothing to see. Do not panic and freeze and do not convince yourself something is “no big deal.” Trust your instincts and be willing to call for help if you need it. Have 911 on speed dial, and keep the non-emergency number in your phone’s address book. Know how to get a hold of campus security. And if something weird happens in the dorms, your RA is also someone you can report it to.

Kids are just so stupid when it comes to minimizing dangerous situations and not reporting them or taking proper precautions, don’t be one of those people. Chances are you’ll be absolutely fine, but if anything goes wrong you have to act if you want to keep it that way.

I think you’re going to have a great time and should have nothing to worry about. Don’t even think you should have to worry about anything :)

oh, you’re bad :)

always have a friend who you trust to walk back home with, or go old school and carry mace. if you plan to drink have a friend ahead of time figured out to walk you home( who is preferably sober or not wasted) common sense stuff, if you run at night do so with a phone-at orientation you will be given a ton of numbers to call, and learn about ucpd. you’ll be fine. greek life=partying/running into those partying-again common sense

“if you run at night do so with a phone”

Or better yet just don’t run at night.

^hahaha very true, go to the gym instead if you work out at night!!! dont do what i did

^^^She’d probably feel better with a handgun than a phone.

hey hey, true, i just really like night runs ok? OP just dont work out at night.
