What are strong extracurriculars?

I’m surfing on this site and people have done crazy things- it’s concerning me.

My EC’s are:

  1. Sports editor and manager on my school newspaper (3 years)**** THIS TAKES UP SO MUCH TIME. We are an award winning newspaper, but it inhibits my other Ec opportunities.
  2. Junior mentor (lead a freshman class once a week)
  3. Volunteer as part of a Social Justice Institute in a homeless shelter (Rosie’s Place)
  4. Varsity basketball player (and captain when I was on JV and freshman)
  5. Babysit (lol I know…)

Is this a terrible list? If so, I’m a junior right now, is it too late to get more involved? Ahhh

The people on CollegeConfidential tend to be on the crazy side. The population here probably caters to the really anxious, obsessive types. At least those are the types that stand out here.

It is a fine list. The important thing is to be able to write about an EC you are passionate about. It does not have to be an international competition or anything like that.

Agree with @phospholipase‌, you shouldn’t worry too much about how your EC’s compare with others on CC. Something to remember is that colleges see how much time you put into EC’s, so if you have something taking up a ton of your time, like newspaper, then the admissions office takes that into account. It’s a fine list

ECs that YOU love and care about. There is no magic formula.
