Virginia

UVA
Washington and Lee
William and Mary
University of Richmond
Virginia Tech
James Madison

I know that some people have said that W&M is better than UVA, but at least in my experience, the people who cn't get into UVa end up going to W&M

LOL, SMU > Texas A&M? Youve got to be kidding.

Clemson > Furman

I think USC is basically the new WUSTL.....US News sellouts. In the beginning of my senior I got a whole application mailed to me. I had never shown any interest in USC and live all the way in South Florida. A couple of my friends also got applications too. They even paid for postage....all I had to do was fill it out and get a transcript.

Georgia:

Emory University
Georgia Tech
UGA
Agnes Scott
Oxford College @ Emory

All the rest (Mercer, GCSU, GSU, Lagrange, etc.)

This shouldn't even be up for debate.

UVA is almost always placed above W&M.

Top schools in Massachusetts:

Harvard - Country's most sought after university.
MIT - Country's most sought after engineering school
Williams - Often ranked #1 LAC nationally very old and rich
Tufts - Excellent school just a notch below Ivys which irritates them
Boston College - Solid academics and only division 1 football in Mass
Holy Cross - The top Catholic LAC in the country per USNWR
Wellesley - Rich prestigious and all female
Brandeis - Jewish and well respected academics, strong for premed
Boston Univ - Solid academics, large very city campus ala GWU

California:

Stanford
Berkeley
Caltech
UCLA
USC
UCSD

"I have to say that move in day at W&M was 100x easier that at UVa. All of the students were friendly, helpful and very welcoming."

What do they do in W&M? I thought UVA was very easy when we drop off my son last year. Drove up to the curb in front of the dorm. Bunch of students help unload the car. After we unloaded, we were directed to a parking spot across the street. By the time we got back, everything already moved into his dorm. Fast, efficient and friendly. There was also help desk and a dorm party (with soda, sandwich and chips) for the students to meet each other in the afternoon.

Not to be omitted from the top schools in Massachusetts....

Franklin Olin College of Engineering in Needham

Florida:

UF >>> Miami

Alexandre. CMU is in no way, shape, or form in the midwest.

^Who cares if he messed up on the location for one (out of like 50+) school.

I did find it kinda odd how Alexandre would put Texas in with the Midwest/Great Plains instead of what I would've put it in, the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast/South grouping, but it doesn't matter.

I'd also add Gerogia Tech to the Mid-Atlantic... group.

Outside of those two comments, the list looks pretty solid.

Pennsylvania:

UPenn
Carnegie Mellon
Swarthmore
Lehigh
Haverford
Bucknell
Penn State
Pitt

My two states:

New York:
1. West Point
2. Columbia
3. Cornell
4. NYU
5. Syracuse
6. Vassar
7. Rochester
8. Hamilton
9. Yeshiva
10. Colgate

Pennsylvania:
1. Penn
2. Carnegie Mellon
3. Swarthmore
4. Haverford
5. Lehigh
6. Pitt
7. Villanova
8. Bryn Mawr
9. Bucknell
10. Lafayette

rjkofnovie, I think Pittsburgh is more Midwestern than East Coast.

I agree with JimmyC, West Point is the best in a tough state that has many other great colleges, but West Point is the pick there.
