Many people will say the best job coming out of college is an Investment Banking gig at a prestigious firm.

What do you think? What are some of the craziest gigs you have heard/seen people end up with? It doesn't have to be finance, obviously, but it should be prestigious in the eyes of your typical CC elitist.

Some Wharton kids get Private Equity / Hedge Fund jobs and I would consider that among the best.

I do not respect anyone who says that IB is the best job out of college. It is certainly the highest paying, but also the one most devoid of meaning or fun.

I am depressed going into my well-paid consulting job. I’d rather be doing what I love, like my friend who got a job working in the baseball analytics department with an MLB team.

I would say best jobs probably go to professional athletes.

Is that a realistic goal for most - no. But neither is getting a position in PE at a place like Blackstone…

To some people, money is everything. To others, the love of job is more important. I believe the combination of the two is what’s key. Picking what you love to do, doesn’t necessarily have to lead to a low paying salary. Sure, it may take longer to reach a higher position/pay, but thats how you really earn your pay. Now, with that said, what’s the most prestigious job you can have? Nothing is prestigious, not even being a celebrity. Money is merely a piece of paper, backed up by meaningless promises that can instantly turn worthless once that promise is broken or that piece of “paper” is printed meaninglessly.

You know what, you guys are right. Really, I completely agree with what you all have said.

United States Navy Ensign!!

That got philosophical quick. For some people it might be going into a non-profit or social work, such as counseling kids. For me, it would be developing iPhone games or working at Zynga, which some of my friends are luckily doing now - they love it!
