** Is SSP for You?

Are you currently a high school junior or very advanced sophomore, now taking calculus or planning to next fall? Will you be at least 15 years old, but not yet 19, on June 1? If so, you're eligible to apply.

Thought I'd detail about SSP as many people aren't familiar with the program.

Any of the Sicnece Olympiad Camps are pretty good.

All the major universities have big camps, like the Ivies, Duke, Stanford and such, and they all offer science and engineering programs there.

Here's a list of some:

You kinda have to be careful about some of the camps at the major universities cuz soemtime they are just a way of making money and putting people in the unused dorms over the summer. Just a warning.

what are the most prestigious ones though other than the ones i mentioned?

bbbuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmpppp

The olympiad ones are really good (I'd say the same level/better than RSI) because they only take 20-25 people across the nation

^^^^Of course the olympiad ones are great, but those often are crazay hard to get into because it is based on very difficult tests of a particular subject.

MOP is probably the hardest. Just being a USAMO qualifier is huge as it is. MOP is like being the cream of the cream of the crop.

and IMO is the cream of the cream of the cream of the crop.

^^^Indeed it is....

If you are good enough to make it to the MOP, IPhO, IChO, USABO, or USACO national camps, you pretty much have it made....but ALL of these are tough to get into.

You really have to be one of the best in the subject (but, I will admit, many very very good students may not know about the tests...)

do u have to win one of the olympiads or do really well on them to get into those though? The olympiads are pretty much unheard of at my school. I checked the chemistry olympiad and it seemed like a lot of random facts that i didnt know so ill prbly just stick to the physics one. But if they accept only 20 people i think id have no chance of getting in. I really doubt ill do that good on the physics olympiad test. Are there any camps that accept a little more and are still prestigious? Like maybe over 200 ppl in the country?

You have to do really well on them and have great problem-solving skills.

The olympiad tests aren't cakewalks. The first test may seem to be easier, but Semifinalist tests are HARD. The Physics one is crayzay....and USAMO is obviously difficult.

If you have taken AP Bio, give a shot at the USABO; the test is based on theCampbell textbook.

any others?!?! heeellpppp

Students Review has a long database of listings I think. Also google for something like "Summer Math and Science Programs." I think a directory should come up about like AMS Science and Math or something. Sorry, I'm so vague I only applied to SHARP last year.

go to ssp!!! it was the best 6 weeks of my life!
