prestigious summer programs

Sci/Math
1. RSI
2. PROMYS?
2. SHARP - still around?

X. NIH? They arent residential internships though...argh...
X. YESS at caltech?

X. MITES/Women in Technology at MIT

where do these olympiad training camps fit? i know nothing about olympiads.
what about nylf and college programs (summer at stanford/harvard/brown/etc)
that you have to pay for? Feel free to edit order, I am gearing up to apply for after-junior year stuff, and no one at my NW public school knows anything. Not that I'd create competition for myself anyway. East Coast and Cali, help me!

Hum
1. TASP
2.?

I don't keep tabs on humanities.

Try the Center for Clinical Immunology at Stanford summer program (ccis.stanford.edu). I participated this past summer and had a blast. I think the acceptance rate was around 10%. (Note: It isn't residential, so you're responsible for finding housing, although you do receive a $1500 stipend).

Dunno about PROMYS. They extended the applications deadline for this past summer because apparently there was some trouble filling up the program. But then again that's just heresay.

I recall there was a Cornell one... I forget the name though. SHARP is gone.

What if you can't really find any good programs around where you live. For example in freshman summer I just took a high school Biology course over the summer? I live in like a plain type of town so how would I find some good summer programs. There was like 2 i knew of. Also I probably wouldnt' be able to go out of state like the programs at MIT and such.

Ross is also pretty good for math.

And for the olympiad training camps, you have to do well in their qualifying test to be able to attend. And thats usally the top 15-30 people in country, so it's really hard to get into.

Are there any prestigious humanities or art summer programs? All of these famous ones seem to be geared towards the math and science areas.

(argh, stupid one-post-per-60-seconds rule!)

Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP). Look at their website, and also there's a TASP thread floating around somewhere on the High School Life Forum.

Boston University Research Internship in Science and Engineering

Pretty good

Interlochen Arts Camp for music, visual art, theatre, and creative writing if you are looking for one that focuses mainly on these areas. But I advise you not to apply if you intend only to make your application good for college. One has to love the arts to be able to fully enjoy Interlochen, according to a friend of mine who went there. lol. Consider it if you're into the arts.
