Any opinions?

everything.

no MB at some colleges

I came from a bad public school system. Having to study and work a whole, whole lot was probably the biggest difference...also, the joy of having a lot more intelligent, wonderful people around me.

Independence and responsibility. No parents or others to tell you what to do every step of the way and you take responsibility for everything that happens (or doesn't happen).

From selecting your own classes to washing your own clothes, you are responsible for your own destiny.

I feel like i'm going to get to college and not be able to cope with all he differences

i'll be attending Bucknell this fall.. by the way... what's MB

Marching Band

"I feel like i'm going to get to college and not be able to cope with all he differences"

That's life! You will face challenges in college, in your career choice, with family issues and friends, and in life. The "differences" are what makes the college experience fun and exciting.

What issues are you most anxious about, i.e. the roommate from hell, making new friends, cultural issues, making the grade (academic issues)? Please share with us!

You're from Philly...you're supposted to be a "tough" sista, like Jill Scott, who can handle anything !!! lol

GSP.. URE RIGHT. i'M SCARED THAT I'LL FALL BEHIND ACADEMICALLY.. THAT'S ABOUT IT

Are You A "sista" 2?

he Difference Between College And High School

In high school, you do homework. In college, you study.

No food is allowed in the hall in high school. In college, food must be provided at an event before students will come.

In high school, you wear your backpack on one shoulder; in college, on both.

In college, the professors can tell you the answer without looking at the teacher's guide.

In college, there are no bells or tardy slips.

In high school, you have to live with your parents. In college, you get to live with your friends.

In college, you don't have to wait in a certain lunch line to be cool.

Only nerds e-mailed in high school. (Cool kids hadn't heard of it.)

In high school, you're told what classes to take. In college, you get to choose; that is, as long as the classes don't conflict and you have the prerequisites and the classes aren't closed and you've paid your tuition.

In high school, if you screw up you can usually sweet-talk your way out of it. In college, you're lucky to ever talk with the professor.

In high school, fire drills are planned by the administration; in college, by the drunk frat boys on their way home when the bars close.

In college, any test consists of a larger percentage of your grade than your high school final exams ever did.

In high school, when the teacher said, "Good morning," you mumbled back. In college, when the professor says, "Good morning," you write it down.

In high school, freshman guys hit on senior girls. In college, senior guys hit on freshman girls.

In college, weekends start on Thursday.

In college, it's much more difficult to figure out the course schedule of the man/woman you have a crush on, in order to figure out where he/she will be walking around campus and at what time to find them there.

Once you've obtained the information described in #10, it's much more time-consuming to run between classes to that place where you know he/she will be in order to "just happen to bump into him/her."

In college, there's no one to tell you not to eat pizza three meals a day.

In college, your dad doesn't pay for dates.

In high school, it never took 3 or 4 weeks to get money from Mom and Dad.

College men are cuter than high school boys.

College women are legal.

In college, when you miss a class (or two or three), you don't need a note from your parents saying you were skip... uh, sick that day.

In high school, you can't go out to lunch because it's not allowed. In college, you can't go out to lunch because you can't afford it.

In college, you can blow off studying by writing lists like this.

that's funny

"GSP.. URE RIGHT. i'M SCARED THAT I'LL FALL BEHIND ACADEMICALLY.. THAT'S ABOUT IT"

Brothers and Sisters Empowered and others will offer study groups and other resources to help you deal with academic and other issues. I think that there is an AA sorority on campus as well. Just let them know when you're arriving and what your needs are.

No, I'm not a sista and am older than dirt, but I advise AA youth. lol

right now, attending summer college classes, i got a feel.

for one, you don't get reprimanded for sleeping in classes (i've been having rehearsals and getting home at 12, so i get pretty tired).

its your choice to attend classes. there might be a roll call or sign-in sheet, but they're not gonna come after you if you don't attend.

you probably won't have a personal relationship with your teachers, like you do in high school.

you can make a lot of money by selling notes. unless your notes are graded, there's nothing against selling notes you've taken in class.

In high school, when the teacher said, "Good morning," you mumbled back. In college, when the professor says, "Good morning," you write it down.

lol!

Some people don't form relationships with their teachers in high school anyway.

I'm kind of scared too. That I won't be able to take care of myself. I've been telling my parents to stop babying me so much. They won't listen. v_v"

I have taken a few math classes in college before.

There's a lot more maturity involved. The professors DO know what they're talking about. The classes are longer, but you won't be bored.

What about socially? Whats the difference there between HS and college ?

i know the work is obviously harder and more challenging but what about socially?
anyone por favors ?
