ok im posting for this my friend who's a high school senior right now.
she was accepted to UCSD but her 2nd semester grades are really bad..
like she got all C's and one D. i know it's really bad..
would UCSD cut her? what are her chances of getting cut?

She will be cut unless she can put forth a damn good excuse for noting having a 3.0 GPA and having a D.

Well, she has to hope and pray for a few things.

One, that that D class isn't UC-accredited. A D grade is not acceptable from the UCs unless theres a really good excuse.

Two, that all those C classes are AP Classes. UCSD is the only UC, I believe, to count AP and Honors credit for the minimum 3.0 GPA required. Having the AP Credit would boost all those from Cs to Bs, and get her to a 3.0 average, ignoring the non-UC-accredited D grade.

Other than all those exceptions, a really good excuse is needed.

Or that she had a 4.0 first semester to balance out the crap this semester..

She still wasn't supposed to get a D though, regardless of only satisfying the 3.0 requirement.

i think with the high enrollment numbers and so many waitlists for housing, she will probably get revoked sadly

Why'd she get a D?
