I am female, and I'm currently a junior in high school.
My GPA and EC'S, etc etc aren't that great because I honestly just did not care these past two years about my future until a recent event made me rethink my choices. So without further ado...

As of now, my cumulative GPA: 3.25

Only ever took AP US History. I took Anatomy and Physiology Honors this year. Next year I'm taking Psychology AP, possible Environmental Science AP, and Calculus AB AP.

EC's:
Key Club - 3 years
Volunteer at local aquarium - 3 months now
Gay Straight Alliance Club (Treasurer)
I'm hoping I'll start volunteering at the local hospital soon but I'll have see about that.

SAT (I recently took this with no studying...bad habits are hard to break I guess.):
Critical Reading: 660
Mathematics: 580 (This is reaaally low, I am planning on retaking the SAT though so hopefully that goes up!)
Writing: 600
Cumulative Score: 1840

Oh, and I'm from California.

Well they won’t look at your senior year grades because they have to make conditional acceptances before then, so this year is key for you - hopefully you are finishing strong and showing improvement in the GPA which matters. For senior year, they will look at the difficulty of your schedule - however you don’t mention SAT or ACT scores, that will be important. Also make sure you apply by the early deadline, your chances are much better then as more slots are open.

Reporting SAT/ACT scores is required, isn’t it?

And is it difficult to get into USC coming from out of state? People have said that it’s actually really difficult, so I’m really worried.

I honestly don’t know the answer to that, but we are from Florida and my son received the general acceptance to USC long before he got accepted into the music program - his stats were a college-weighted GPA of 3.6 (excludes electives, 1 point for AP/IB and .5 for Honors) and a 28 on the ACT. He took 5 AP classes and mostly honors excluding music, Spanish, etc prior to senior year. I believe USC takes a decent amount of out of state students (unlike UF, etc.) so I’d say a weighted 3.5 with a 26 on ACT (didn’t take the SAT) would get you in, but I can’t say for sure. Also, certain schools/majors like Honors, Business, Music or Nursing are more competitive and may have higher standards.

Save Vanderbilt and to an extent UGA, SEC schools hand out admissions like candy. A 1900 SAT should seal the deal

Vandy is definitely an exception and is near Ivy-league, but my son got into UGA no problem. I would say UF is actually more difficult to get in to from OOS, they have very few slots if you’re not from Florida…I don’t see an issue with S. Carolina unless you have a 3.0 or lower.
