^^ OP stated that he was already accepted to Stony Brook so you were right"
Hello!, yesterday he received his admission letter notification of University of Rochester, an excelent start, he’s so happy, still waiting to the reach ones but with the tranquility of being admitted to an excellent university
@boolaHi Sorry, I didn’t understand your answer was about the seven colleges that I was asked for his chances to be admitted, thanks for your answer
Hello!, accepted in Grinnell College and Middlebury College, rejected in MIT (as he expected).
felicitaciones y buena suerte
Great! Pick Middlebury, send the deposit and plan a trip. Excellent school and a great experience for someone from Spain.
@dadstressed Today my S has send the deposit to Middlebury College. Thanks a lot :).
If I was your son, I would start looking into other schools. Try state universities like the University of Florida, University of Alabama, University of North Carolina, those types of schools. They are a lot more in his range.
@jandro - Congratulations to your son! It sounds like both Middlebury and your son have made excellent decisions.
Thanks @Madfacedemoji but he has yet been admitted at Middlebury College and he paid the deposit last week, so he will start there nex fall 2015 . He has been also admitted in NJIT, Stony Brook, URoc, Grinnell College an Middlebury College, waitlisted in Yale and Princeton and rejected from MIT, Swarthmore, Brown, NYU and Harvard. He applied for financial aid.
I feel like I either misread his qualifications or you withheld information. I would never have believed he would have been accepted or waitlisted at the schools he was. Congratulations!
@jandro - I’m happy the contrary stand I took proved to be a least somewhat correct (I thought he had a realistic chance). Did he accept the places on the Yale and Princeton waitlists?
@urbanslaughter, well, I suppose that I didn’t explain well his stats because we have different educational system. He has extraordinary high school grades 10/10 in the senior year and been the first of his promotion. Different national academic awards. Actually he is doing an internship in a physics department of renewable energies. He’s been recruited as tennis player. An he starts acting 6 months ago, and has very good qualities. He tried to reflect it in his application and I suppose he did. Also, I supoose that as an international they valorate the applications considering the country’s educational system.
@BldrDad He is absolutely happy. He didn’t accept the waitlisted places in Yale and Princeton. He loves Middlebury College, there he will study a major in Physics and a minor in theatre and has been recruited in the tennis team.
Sometimes is very difficult to explain all the credentials if you are from abroad
Thank you very much and good luck to all new applicants for the 2020 class
I’m going to be blunt, even harsh to some extent. I don’t mean any offense.
Your son has virtually a zero percent chance to get admitted in any of the schools you mentioned except for the safe schools. Even the ‘probably’ schools you mentioned are (at best) high reaches for your son; applying to Harvard and Yale would be a delusional decision. The fact of the matter is that colleges don’t buy the ‘no opportunities’; there are people that apply that are in poverty and from sub-Saharan Africa that have better extra-curricular activities that get rejected. Please check the 2019 EA results to see who your son is competing with:
He’s already gotten his results back, dude. Maybe read the thread before attacking someone.
Ahh, never mind then. I didn’t realize that the thread was from February and I only saw the first page. I didn’t mean to attack anyone, I just wanted to offer my opinion on his chances since this is a ‘what are my chances’ forum. I didn’t mean any offense at all. Sorry.
