What are the chicks like at Rice?

I think it's fairly straightforward. Things are really only awkward if you a) feel awkward and then b) feel the need to point it out. Rice suffers from extreme overuse of the term.

Lol at Tucker Max and touche (though he's neither hideous nor socially awkward). I think I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell is like some sort of male equivalent to Twilight or whatever in terms of pipe dreams.

I don't find this thread awkward at all. It's one of the benefits of an anonymous (MOST of the time) forum.

Acutally, one of my roommates met Tucker Max and described him as being socially awkward. Very unexpected.

how is this unexpected?

kid's an absolute jackass in every one of his stories.

On a side note, I listed 'I hope they server beer in hell' as one my favorite books in my columbia application. :)

Lol, silentsailor. Dead on the mark. I don't get why anything is awkward at all.
These are all vital, crucial points of discussion, possibly the most important ;)

just playing around =P.
But I was serious about the baker college runs and hot girls though.

Do many girls look down on guys that don't drive? Or are there enough fun things to do around campus or enough guys that don't drive that it doesn't matter?

Does drive have a second meaning or something?

hahahaha. too funny.

Rihanna wants you to Shut Up And Drive. ;) JK.

Having a car helps, but is not necessary.

Wow, I've never heard "drive" used in that context. Interesting...

Are Rice girls generally pruder than normal?

of course kiddo is that even a question...

at any of these high end schools you get a lot of those kids who gave up on the social scene of their high schools, didnt go to parties, and simply outstudied their classmates.

im glad im not one of those kids...

I'm not either! (anymore)

Hahahahahaha this thread cracks me up.

1) Out of all the girls I've seen running Baker 13 more have been not-hot than hot. Which is surprising because I wouldn't run around naked unless I felt absolutely smokin' that night. But whatever. That question is ridiculous and you'd probably be better off using google if you want to see hot naked chicks.
2) None of the guys I've "interatcted" with (wide-ranging term, there) have had cars and I'm okay with that because my car is awesome. One of them doesn't even know how to drive but he's foreign and ridiculous. There's fun stuff to do along the lightrail and enough things going on around campus that if you can carry a conversation and don't need to be doing something every second, you should be fine. Group outings are good. Make friends with people who have cars. But not me, because I don't want to be friends with people I have to give romantic advice to over the internet on a college forum.
3) From the looks of it the prude ones aren't the girls you guys would be interested in anyway so don't worry about it. Keep in mind that simply not going to parties in high school =/= prude...I didn't party until Rice but I had super long-term relationships in HS. It's a dumb correlation. Of course if you just want a girl who will make out with you it's probably more likely if she a) partied in HS or b) is extraordinarily insecure and will take whatever attention she can get. Also, being a partier does NOT automatically imply that you're either fun to hang out with, a good kisser, or capable of carrying a conversation.

I should not do this. I know I will regret it. Back in the day, we said you should never get involved with someone you would not or had not showered with. Only after you removed the fancy clothes, makeup, hair styling etc. could you see what someone really looked like. I suspect that intellectually self confident people in an intellectual environment pay less attention to appearance than do socialite people in a socially demanding environment. I suspect that both the guys and girls at Rice probably look no better or worst that the people at other schools in the shower. If anything the delta between the before and during shower is probably much less disappointing (or surprisingly better) at Rice than some more preppy schools where people dress to impress.

Yeah I agree with the above but you based on what i've seen/heard you are likely to encounter hairy legs in the shower along with hairy armpits from the girls there.

By the way you are not giving romantic advice to anyone you are just relating your opinions about Rice people. And hey do you know matt carey, he went to my school, from san antonio.

kinda sexist, as far a threads go

It's meant to be, they didn't necessarily title it: how are the people at Rice?
