What are the curves like in math and science classes?

What are the averages on midterms and finals in classes like multivariable, linear algebra, physics for engineers, etc. I'll probably be a physics majors at the U.

From what I hear, it depends on the professor. Usually in the physics department it’s a bell curve. On the exams the average score is 60-75 and the final averaged 45 last year. Do one standard deviation on whatever the average is in physics and you’ll get an A.

From what I experienced, lower division math classes don’t have curves unless the class grades were extremely low

That’s correct. 1271/1371 is “curved” to around 90% for an A and 80% for a B. But for those classes you really don’t need a curve at all.

S2 just finished a physics 3 (engineering) midterm. The class average was 66 out of 100

In my physics class, a 55% is a C…

thank you for the replies
