What non-Ivy universities are of Ivy League standard?

I think those would be Stanford, Duke, MIT, Swarthmore etc.

Top LACS -- Amherst, Williams, Swat, Wellesley, Smith

Top U's -- Duke, Rice, Chicago, Stanford, MIT, CalTech, Mich, NW

You can find alot of ranking lists. Look around.

Those that immediately come to my mind are: Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Northwestern, Duke, and Chicago. Not to forget Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore...

Go check the Top Colleges forum

i love how you tossed smith in there, bandit, over a half a dozen LACs that are better. really amusing.

yeah i'd put wellesley over smith

stanford, duke, caltech, MIT, williams, amherst. those are the ones that are definitely ivy league-standard. the others are debatable.

The problem with the idea of "Ivy-League-standard" is that the standard varies. Yale is a very different school than Cornell, even though both are terrific schools.

You can tax-dollar represent Michigan, Virginia, Cal, UCLA, UNC and W&M too in your "Ivy-Standard" list.

Harvey Mudd College for sure, LAC wise that is.

University / College?
Some places are as good for certain things but don't have the size to justify a comparison on a basis of net research, if we're talking about the ivy league as full fledged research universities in addition to being such oh-so-lovely undergraduate paradises.
