What are the odds of rejection if you are a recruit?

March madness I will find out from 9 schools and I am going nuts!! I am a recruit for Harvard, Cornell and Yale. Even though I will be shocked if I get accepted ,but wanted to know the odds of rejections for recruits???????? Wow it is going to be a roller coaster ride on MARCH 29th(A very scary one I might add)

bump anybody

There are a lot of factors but I'm just curious wha tsport do you play and how heavily recruited were you because that is definitely a factor, it's hard to tell with so little information.

yea which sport your being recruited for has a big impact. The fact that 3 schools are interested i would bet you will get into atleast 1

If the coach says you're in then you've got a good chance. But at the ivys they're much less likely to get by if your stats aren't great. That said, if you're a football/soccer/basketball player and they NEED you, then you're a lot safer.

Not to scare you, but last year a kid at my school was told by a Cornell coach that he was definitely in only to be rejected. It turned out the Coach just wasn't able to push him through.

Also: find out if the coaches will be 'supporting' your admission.

I am not a sport recruit.

Then what kind of recruit are you? Enlighten us.

hey guys, my frd has been constantly contacted by the swimming team coach at Mount holyoke college, and even asked her for her swimming background. after she replied, the coach said that he would like to take her on to the swimming team if she gets admitted.

is this some kind of tip? do you guys think this coach would inform the Adcom about my frd's superior ability to swim, and thus increasing her chance of getting in? thanks

Yes, but at a school like Mount Holyoke, it's probably not as big of a boost.

thanks ses! anymore input, anyone? :)

You never know. A kd at my school was promised into a top 3 LAC. The admissions dean called him personally to bump back the ED deadline so he could apply early. Then they deferred him. You never know what'll happen. However, the good word of a coach certainly carries significant weight.

bump...................

The way I hear it, a recruit is usually only beneficial for the applicant if the apply during ED/EA, beyond that they tend to lose their recruit status, but this is hearsay after all.

football recruits at berkeley who get 900s on their sat (old sat, out of 1600) on their first try take great pride in it. oh and there's no EA/ED at berkeley. now one of them is our starter. so yeah if you're a recruit that the coach really wants so he can start you as a freshman, then you'll probably get in.

bump...................

whyivy,

If you are not an athletic recruit, what type of "recruit" are you?

Also, what sort of "recruiting" have those schools done for you? Who contacted you? Did they write/call/invite you for an expenses-paid visit?

bump......

I was invited to stay over night all expense paid to see the programs. some reception held by invitation only and I have been contacted thru phone,e-mail and so forth...Any thoughts to my original #1 post??

no, because you are being evasive....unless we know WHY your are being "recruited" we can't help you

and Harvard Yale and Cornell all paid for you to visit and paid ALL expenses....
