Are they multiple choice tests?

They're all pretty much multiple choice tests, yes.

My daughter is there now and messaged me this afternoon that the math placement test was "a piece of cake, for the most part."

As others have written here, if you took challenging math classes in school it sounds like the test is no problem. Don't know about the languages.

I took the Spanish test, and it was pretty difficult. Since I've already had 4 years of high school Spanish, one of them being AP/IB Spanish 4, I really hoped to place out of the 3-year foreign language requirement (I'm a Communication major). I placed into Spanish III instead. :( Oh well, hopefully that one semester will pass quickly...

I thought certain parts of the math placement exam were kind of tricky just because I hadn't covered all of the topics in class, and other topics I haven't seen since freshman year. But my school had (no more as of next year) a really strange math curriculum, so I'd assume that most students who've taken higher math classes should be fine. The French placement exam felt much easier than the AP or SAT II, so I guess the difficulty of the language exams depend on which language you're taking.
