Is AP Government and Politics relatively easy? I heard that taking US History makes this class/test a bit easier.

easiest AP History course offered at my school (no Human Geography)- AP Psychology
easiest AP Math course offered at my school - AP Statistics
easiest AP Science course offered at my school - AP Environmental Science

That’s the general consensus at my school.

The easiest APs at your specific school will depend on your teachers: which are the best at communicating the material or maybe even just making their class so hard that the test seems like a breeze. That makes the physics C exams probably the easiest at my school!

The easiest to take with the minimal studying would be English Language (if you’re good at reading and writing), Environmental Science (if you’ve taken some other sciences), and Macro Econ (it’s basically a few vocab words then some common sense).

Psych and U.S. Government are easy to understand, you just probably don’t already know all of the specific court cases and vocab and such, so it’s just a matter of time.

Just bear in mind that most colleges know all this. So you’re better off just working hard on subjects that you care about instead of padding your resume with a bunch of fluff APs.

hmm that’s true

US History ! All you have to do is memorize facts.

Are you kidding? This is how people go into AP Exams thinking they’re ready and get ones. You need to know a ton of specialized vocab, formulas, graphs and concepts before venturing into the AP Macro Exam if you want to even remotely get a decent score.

I had a bad teacher, so it was essentially a self-study. A lot of the concepts simply require that you sit down, draw it out, and do some extensive visualizations. Whenever you self-study, don’t rush through a topic - stick at it until you understand it. To an extent, memorization isn’t what’s most important.

The easiest AP exams are:

Psychology

World History

Environmental Science

U.S. History

Government/Politics

Human Geography

^You wouldn’t consider AP Stats and AP Human Geo easy self-studies?

^Stats, no. Human Geo, yes.

I’m not really good at learning math on my own. Science is another matter.

us gov and politics, us history, stat, and psych

AP Language is NOT the easiest to take without studying; the test is actually pretty difficult, and requires memorization of many rhetorical devices. Your writing must also be viable enough to convince CB’s crappy readers to give you an eight to nine on the essay.

^ I disagree. To get a 5, I believe you need 75% on the multiple choice and 7s on the essays. That’s not especially hard to do, with or without a teacher, if you are already a strong reader and writer.

I’m with Soothsayerr on English. If you’re a naturally strong reader and writer, you can do that with minimal studying. You should know if you are, because your English teachers will make it clear to you. But if that’s not your thing, this is going to be a hard test for you and will require a dedicated English teacher and you putting 100% into an AP English class.

And as for econ, I don’t know these tons of vocab words and especially formula you’re talking about. I will grant, there are lots of graphs, but if you’re the logical kind of person they won’t present a problem. And I found that there’s little vocab that you don’t get from (sorry if this sounds harsh) common sense or reading the newspaper. I’m not suggesting that you take the exam cold; I’m just saying that among the APs a little studying on econ will get you farther than on the other tests.

^Just out of curiosity, when (if you did at all) did you take the AP Macro Exam and what did you get? Did you self-study or take it with a corresponding class?

AVG AP Scores
Art History=2.74
Bio=2.71
AB Calc=2.99
BC Calc=3.72
Comparative Gov=3.06
Chem=2.8
English Lang=2.88
English Lit=2.84
Euro History=2.92
Human Geography=2.57
Macro=2.86
Micro=3.08
Physics B=2.88
Psychology=3.22
Statistics=2.83
US Gov&Pol=2.78
US History=2.72
World History=2.64

these arent all of them…just the major ones…you can see the rest on the collegeboard website. some of these averages can be misleading…for example…there is no way BC Calc is an easy course…its just those that take the exam are extremely adept at math. if i were to give the top 3 easiest AP courses…id say…psychology (by far), micro, and comparative gov. But the obvious answer is…the easiest AP exam will be the subject you are naturally good at. I thought the AP Lang exam was extremely easy…and found AP Euro exam hard. I also found the AP Government test to be the easiest AP test ive ever taken…but the average is only 2.78. So just go with what your best fit is…and if you dont necessarily have a strength…go with psychology. lol

And if your memory is not excellent, don’t even presume to think of slacking off while preparing for Art History. There’s a level of BS you can get away with on US History, but Art History will eat you alive.

Four hours of pure torture.

has anyone taken the psychology test? how is it.
For the summer i’m taking an art history college course to fulfill my Fine Art credit, so there is no need to take it an ap on it.

out of curiosity how is the AP LIT test. i have an amazing teacher who has a very high pass rate because he prepares you like no other, but how is the ap test?

^^ Art History was probably the hardest one I took as well - and definitely the one I worked hardest for.

^ AP Lit is not the most relaxing test, because of all the essays and you know that no matter how prepared you are, you’re never going to breeze through because it’s all new material and no memorization. But I thought the third essay (the one where you pick one work and discuss the given theme) to be actually really enjoyable. I guess that just shows how much of a writing geek I am, though.

And I don’t know what I got on macro (I’m too stingy to pay). I’m not too hopeful because even though it felt easy I was rocking a 101 fever and fell asleep 15 minutes into the multiple choice section. It was a strange day for me. I did take the class, so I acknowledge that I might not be the best person to comment, but I did have the worst teacher I’ve ever seen. It was basically a self-study and I used her class to do my physics and calc homework, if you’ll believe me.

“Human Geography=2.57”

Don’t let the low average score mislead you! This is probably the easiest AP test out there with one of the easiest curves.

^Easy due to the fact a bunch of freshman take it who dont know what to expect (creating the good curve) and the fact that the reputation is so easy that people dont study and fail lol.
