What are the student at UPenn called?

Is there a special name for students at UPenn? What is it?

oops. it should be "students" in the title.

Quakers. (Fighting) Quakers.

Usually “Penn Students” works just fine as well.

Thanks for answering the question, FightingQuaker!
but why are they called Quakers?

Comes from the state’s roots as a quaker colony.

haha…are there many actual quakers on campus?

I always say Pennsters.

the seas kids are penngineers

Fighting Quakers?? That’s actually pretty bizarre, given the Quakers’ proclivity for peaceful resolution of conflicts. Are they really called FIGHTING QUAKERS???

hence the use of the word “fighting” to distinguish between the typical Quaker pacifist & the unusually pugnacious one lol

Given Penn’s religious diversity, I would not be surprised at all to find an actual Quaker on campus.

I don’t know about other regions, but where I came from all the high schools sports teams were known as the “Fighting [insert mascot name here, hopefully not a religious identity]”. Hence, I become a Fighting Quaker on March 31, 2009.

PENNgineers do it all over Towne.
