I enjoy being in all the ECs that I’m involved with…does have a ‘laundry list’ look bad? I’m literally a member of like 20 things, but that’s because I like to be busy.

If that reflects who you are, then absolutely not. Whenever I went to admissions info sessions when I was applying to school, they always said that the essay really helps them validate who you are as a person. They do read them, at penn previews my regional representative mentioned three essays that were somehow connected written by friends.

Can we just get back to the topic?

Well I usually don’t believe in talking about stats, but I did know someone recruited for football at my school who was in the bottom half of the class. He actually didn’t end up going to Penn.

Worst stat I know that got into Penn (CAS): 3.5 WEIGHTED, 1650/2400 SAT.

I’m not lying.

^^^How? There has to be some huge hook…

^ Recruited athlete most likely, it’s impossible to get in with stats that awful without having a significant hook such as being a recruited athlete.

Even with athletes, a line has to be drawn…

1800 on the SAT, perhaps a 30 on the ACT. African American.

I know a girl who got in with an SAT under 2000… I forgot what it was… i think 18 or 19 something? And SAT2s under 700. She was from Hawaii though. and a mixed race…

Of the freshman class 25% are under 660 CR, 690 M and 670 W. ACT - 25% under 30. 12% have GPAs under 3.5 according to College Board’s 2011 College Handbook.

I commented to a few Penn students (internationals) that if you get above a 650 in Reading you don’t have to take the TOEFL. They both laughed and said they’d have to take it anyway.
