Hmmm that's a really hard one for me to call, but I think that even though he's a URM he might get deferred. The scores seem too low, and the ECs are pretty generic.

I know it is bad for Penn since their range is 31-34. But being in the 93% means about a 1340 in releation to the SAT. But when you convert this score to SAT (using a chart) it is a 1260. Why is this?

Also, how would they use the ACT to compare it with the subject tests? (I know that they look at the subsections)

I would say that more very smart people/very good test takers take the SAT. I know it's different in the Midwest, but in the rest of the country, people usually take the SAT first. If they do well, they won't take the ACT. If they don't do well, they're more likely to take the ACT. So the average on the ACT will be a little lower because the average person taking it will be a worse test taker. (I have no idea, but that sort of makes sense, right?)

ok so big news....at school today Penn called the counseling center and said that in his application my friend applied to the college of engineering but his interests in his essay said he wanted a well-rounded education. They wanted to know if he was more interested in the college of engineering or the college of arts and science (or the college w/e its called). I think this is really good because if they weren't interested they would have just threw his application a side
