APPLYING TO:
Stanford (SCEA)
Yale
Rice (Interim Decision)
Harvard (maybe)
Columbia (maybe)
UCSD
Santa Clara
Saint Mary's (CA)

My mom is writing the GC rec (I'm actually most nervous about this one!)
Two of my CC bio instructors are writing the teacher recs (yeah, I know, two teachers in the sam subject -- I checked with the above schools, and all but H are fine with it) One of these recs will be extremely strong, another will be anywhere from good to great
Probably going to ask my Stanford faculty mentor to write a rec for me for S and maybe H and Y (he just finished his postdoc at H and he went to Yale)

So what are my chances?

Avalon:

UCSD: Safe Match

bump......

The homeschooling issue shouldn't have much impact one way or another. You're from an over-represented state everywhere except Rice. Your scores are good, but average for HYS. You look good at Rice and the UCs. HYS and Columbia are reaches for everyone, probably 5-10% chance. You have good coverage of safety, match, reach. Go for it.

I estimate: 20% for HYS, 50% for Columbia, and the others are safeties. If you get semifinalist in the STS, add 15% to the above probabilities. If you get finalist, add 30%. Your research looks good, but it needs to be solidified by awards.

UCs and Rice are looking good.

just wondering, why do you want to apply to santa clara?

'Cause it's a safety! (majorly, huh? actually, I'd probably go to Saint Mary's way sooner before Santa Clara, but they both have their pluses and minuses)

Nobody without a hook is 20% at HY.
