What are you/kids at your school listening to?

Right now, I’m listening to [some Philip Glass](Hymn to the Sun from Akhnaten - edited version - song and lyrics by Stuttgart State Opera Orchestra and Chorus | Spotify). Yup, I’m pretentious.

The most popular artists in my year are probably Vampire Weekend, which I adore, and Example, whom I can’t stand. Without any precedent whatsoever, dubstep has styled itself as theee definitive music of British culture. I respond to that by turning up a) Joy Division b) the Beatles c) Elgar. Shut up and go home, wobble fans!

master of minimalism. but new order is my favorite band, sooo no > jd

^ AHHH I disagree. New Order is amazing, but JOY DIVISION. Ian Curtis <3

Anyway, everyone at my school listens to the same music – whatever is on the popular radio station (so Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, etc.) or classic rock. It’s so frustrating. I’m into the whole indie scene, so I have absolutely NO ONE to talk to when it comes to music :frowning: oh well. Bands I’m listening to right now: The Smiths, M83, Fanfarlo, Los Campesinos!, Modest Mouse, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Dinosaur Jr., and Yuck!

m83 is incredible, and the smiths are my second favorite ever behind no. but I have to stay up on hip-hop as a job requirement, so my knowledge of new wave and classic alt is all for naught )):

Well at my school we only listen to the good music

YMCMB

Hmm…I would like Oklahoma…

New favorite song: Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People <3

@CSIHSIS, you should listen to Houdini and I Would Do Anything For You by Foster the People!!

Foster the People is amazing! At my school though, people mostly listen to pop and rap. Especially Travis Porter, Lil Wayne, and Drake.
