Music scenes at your school

Here's just a fun question I was thinking about:

What kind of music do you listen to, and what's the live music scene like at your school? Are there many concerts in your area, and if so, what kinds do you like to go to? What school do you think has the best music scene?

Just wondering...I'll admit I'm pretty curious about the music tastes of people on CC. :)

I listen to a lot of European dance music and American Top 40.

At my old school, people mostly listened to Hawaiian/reggae music, which was awesome- nice and chill. The music scene was decent if you listened to Hawaiian, but lame for everything else.

Most people here seem to listen to country, which I loathe.

This is an awesome thread:)

I listen to pretty much anything…foreign music, electronic, hip hop, and most styles of rock…though the newer stuff is getting on my nerves. I have to download most of my music though since the radio here is either country or hardcore rap, which I just can’t get in to. So I just listen to radio on the internet…its a good thing :D

Rock,Alt rock, indie rock. As far as music scene at my school? Dunno, everyone walks around with earphones so its hard to say what music they are into. Put a secret service guy in the middle of a university he would blend in so well, folks would think he is a student dressed for an interview.

My school is in a big city, so we get like a lot of good people over, and there are a few really nice venues within walking distance. But I don’t people are really into music, at least not enough to take advantage of this, which is pretty disappointing.

I’ve always been kind of jealous of Wesleyan though, they have a lot of cool alumni - Santigold, MGMT, Das Racist. Dunno how that translates into the music scene there though.

Mainly rock, but listen to a little pop/hip hop/techno. People at my school are more into modern music i.e. music that is playing on tv/radios.

I mostly listen to Jpop, Kpop, classical music, and operatic pop (like Hayley Westenra). Like what Stratusfaction said, people at my school are also more into modern music.

Guess I’ll answer my own thread, lol.

I listen to EDM, mostly dubstep, house, trance. Anything you’d find at a rave, essentially. We get a lot of great DJs in Madison, some amazing concerts here for sure. I think EDM is fairly popular here, though I think I’m a lot more into it than your typical student at UW-Madison. We don’t have enough legit raves though :frowning: that’s my only complaint.
