What are you tired of?

Yes! Higher prices, service fees, expectations of bigger tips, etc. I’m tired of the public being expected to act as the Fair Wage Board for the restaurant industry.

ChoatieMom, I also am tired of just about everything.

In a similar vein to this thread (don’t think it quite deserves its own thread, though), I was thinking of “What do you not care about anymore?” Some examples of what is on my list are most global issues – we haven’t and won’t solve world hunger, world peace, and the earth. At least I don’t care enough to become an advocate. I might sign petitions, but nothing beyond that. (But I do donate to our local Foodbank.) I have given up that there will ever be meaningful gun control in this country. I also don’t care about the 1,000,000 ways one can find to become a victim in this country. Can’t say this, can’t say that – everything is a microaggression to someone.

I’m not willing to do things much anymore “for the common good.” That would be things like community trash cleanups, using reusable grocery bags unless I have to, donating blood, volunteering in the schools, etc. BUT my carbon footprint is pretty small, I figure. I’m not the problem. I still recycle because we have curbside recycling where I am. There is talk of that changing, and if it did I would not pay for a curbside recycling service, nor would I take my recycling to a drop-off center (unless it was VERY convenient). As long as blood donation locations don’t require masking, they will just have to do without my family’s O+ (and the very valuable O-) donations. I’d have to say my attitude really changed with the mass disregard of concern about covid, all the arguments against masks and any sort of public health rules being followed as the pandemic went on.

Today is 9-11. I was telling my H this morning that there were two times that I can remember that really changed my view on things. One of them was 9-11. (Now that might be a good idea for a separate thread.) The other one is the covid pandemic.

I’m tired of going to social events I don’t want to go to in clothes I don’t want to wear. I’m going to one in a couple of days, and I can’t wait to be done with it. Then I have another one the week after, and I’m really dreading that one. Can’t get out of either one, and I’m just really TIRED of this.

I’m also very tired of people defending the indefensible.

I had little patience for that prior to Covid, and no patience for it after Covid. I now turn around and ask the person to please back up. Almost all do, not realizing that they were even standing so close. For the very few who don’t back up, I turn slightly and “cough” on them. That does the trick!

I got tired of cooking a long time ago. Luckily for me during the pandemic my husband found an online cooking class he really enjoys. He’s been doing quite a bit of the evening cooking now and he always did waffles on the weekend and all the grilling.

I’m really tired of the lack of easy to find directions anywhere. I just bought hiking poles and it turned out we hadn’t quite figured out one step.

I bought a power stick for my phone which appears to work, just not with my phone. Sigh. After much time on the internet it seems that Pixel 7’s are tempermental and need some specific requirements. And I am so over updates that just mean you have to learn how to do the same things in a different way.

I am tired of going to any store. I deal with going to the grocery store, but that is about it.

DW is tired of cooking and since we are empty nesters we are eating as simple as possible and that is fine by me.

I am also tired of interactions with DW’s family. She is no contact with one sister and it wouldn’t bother me if we did that will the other.

I am also tired of seeing my Mom progress worse off since Dad died. I thought he was the one holding her back but that was not the case. She won’t do anything and has contact with very few people. I feel like she is waiting to die. And trust me my family has tried everything to get her to do things, but she just won’t.

I’m tired of mean girls - i.e. senior citizen mean girls. Bullying is not OK at any age, but it is very unbecoming when you are 65+.

I’m sorry…I do not understand what these words mean. Are they perhaps related to “ironing” another word I do not understand?

(Note: when I described myself as “wrinkly” above, you could assign that word to my clothes as well as my face  ).

  1. The insincerity and language of social media culture. I don’t want to see duck face, or read “living her best life,” or see or know about the Kardashians and their ilk, ever, ever again.

I’m tired of not having enough to laugh at. I’m also tired of work being a miserable ghost town and zombie fest because our enrollment is crashing and faculty have already done everything within their power to do.

While don’t mind grocery shopping, I’m tired of putting groceries away!! Worst part of any grocery shopping experience.

The high price of food in stores and restaurants.

Feeling like I have to solve/troubleshoot everyone’s problems.

(reserving the right to be tired about more than one thing… )

Having to drive instead of having viable public transportation options. I hate driving, hate putting more fossil fuels into the atmosphere, and need more time to read.

Pumpkin ANYTHING…unless it’s a jack-o-lantern.

I do not want it in jam
I do not want it on ham
I do not want it in a cup
I do not want my skin to ‘soak it up’

I do not like it baked into a loaf
I do not like it on toast
I do not like it in brioche

I don’t like it…and I’ve said enough.

This weekend I gained a newfound love for the SEC. Hook 'em! :metal:t4:

Also, I love Hoda. I’m curious what rubs you the wrong way.

Mean-ness, including casual snarkiness. I don’t understand why, especially on-line but in actual life too, many people get a kick out of being mean. Just don’t get it.

Trying to keep kindness in the center of my days.
