What are your plans to extend your intelletual span this summer?

Oh man where do I start! At first I wanted to try to start teaching myself Chinese, but then I decided to try teaching myself multivariable calc and some mathematical analysis, but I’m also self studying some bio right now and there’s a book on fluid dynamics I think I wanna read.

And Plato’s Republic… It’s sitting in my room untouched, so, why not.

YOLO!

Just got a bunch of Ernest Hemingway books and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Gotta start cranking through these, now…

Volunteering at the zoo, reading a bunch of books and attempting to learn how to program android applications.

ALL the music camps!
Also, learn geometry, physical science, Latin, and possibly French I. (whenever I use “I” as a roman numeral I feel naughty because i feel like I’m cheating some how)
Plus volunteer at old people’s homes

Bungee jumping. I feel that the air rushing through my ears and around my brain will improve my clarity of thought.

Summer AP Work

Get CR to 750+

Get Math 2, Chem, Bio-E Sat scores to 800s.

Continue building muscle mass.

Possibly start on college essays

Volunteer at a children’s science camp. (and look for a job)

Read

Teach myself italian

Work on my french and latin.

Start learning greek.

Study for the ACT.

I like languages a lot if you can’t tell.

I’ll be studying to skip Algebra II this summer, and hopefully get into a Chemistry class at a local community college in order to skip as well (though prospects of that are pretty bleak). Aside from that, I’m hoping to read a lot (books and articles online, etc.), and rigorously practice my musical instruments

If Chemistry doesn’t work out, though, I’ll probably take several online courses just for kicks, and study for the SATs. I’ll also volunteer more often at local organizations (haven’t really confirmed anything yet, since whether or not Chemistry will work will be decided on the first day of class :).

Make 500 flashcards for AP French

Ace quiz bowl camp! And a three week political science class at loyola university.

Working and working out for soccer in the fall. Season starts July first. Working at a grocery store sure does “extend your intellectual span” for better or worse…you learn how dumb a lot of people are. I like to think of it as a social experiment.

Taking Geometry, self-studying Spanish until Spanish III so I can retake the placement exam and hopefully skip II… Fingers crossed.

Maybe self-studying AP European Government or US Government and Politics or Human Geography. Human Geo is supposed to be the simplest, so yeah.

Volunteering at a marathon and some 4th of July events.
Maybe being a camp counselor, I dunno yet.

READING! I never have time to read anymore, and it makes me saaad. :frowning:
I have a hefty pile of books I want to conquer by the end of the summer.

Starting an internship (neuro-ophthalmology stroke related)–using this and preparing a project for Intel/Siemens.

Attending a neuroscience summer camp–so excited because it’s all expense paid too. (and they take us to a amusement park for free) :D

Intense Preparation for a neuroscience competition. :)

Now for something not neuroscience related haha–working as a private Chess tutor–this should be fun… xD

Starting my college essays NOW.

Reading Catch-22, Catcher in (and?) the Rye, Jane Eyre, some other books.

Summer AP work.

HAVING FUN WITH FRIENDS (when I’m not busy haha).

Gonna be a busy summer, but I’m ready. Bring it on.

Summer AP work for physics and english lit (thank god none for calc :stuck_out_tongue: )
Taking a course in japanese for beginners, looking forward to that very much
Studying for the ACT in september
Volunteering in Colombia on vacation and other times back home.
I don’t want to overload my summer, but I think it is quite productive!

Ganbatte!

IDK, AP homework. And I want to read this summer.

Well you guys have inspired me haha Im going to read

going to be a sophomore next years might as well

Thanks for inspiring me guys!

Taking APUSH and AP Stats online.
Trying to self-study AP Calc BC and AP Physics C. Which probably isn’t a great idea, but we don’t have them at my school and the online classes are really expensive.
