That they're pulling a WashU?

Interestingly Northwestern is one of the few schools that hasn't really become much more selective in the last decade. Its acceptance rate has been hovering around 30% for years. So increased selectivity, while noteworthy, has been long overdue.

doesn't a 1423 now put them easily within the top 10 schools now in terms of sat scores? They were hovering around the 1400 mark for about 3-4 years.

I don't believe so.

well slipper, let's see

Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT are all above a 1450 sat average

Stanford, Dartmouth Duke are around a 1430-1440

Brown, Wash U, and Columbia are near a 1430

Penn is near a 1420

A 1423 average would put them near a 1430-1440 Median sat, which the range measures. I know that dartmouth has a 1430 something SAT average but a 1450 median sat. Therefore, I think what I said earlier is the case...

I would hate to see them pull a WashU... That's the last thing I want my ED school to do! :(

I'm pretty sure Rice has better SAT scores than NU, too. I'm not sure where you're getting mean test scores from, though, apart from the NU one in the article.
