What are your top ten universities?

well let me see my dream schools are:

PRI Career Institute - that matchbook cover school
Minnesota Drawing School - that school that ask can you draw this picture

after that

maybe the same espionage schools that the NSA seems to hire from, that couch in my mom’s basement. :)

Tufts University

Bowdoin College

USC

Claremont-McKenna College

Wesleyan University

UNC Chapel Hill (in-state)

I’d love to go to any of these, and I’m a definite match for UNC so I’m confident of an acceptance there, so what I’m hoping for is to have a choice between UNC and one of the schools that’s farther away. I love having options. lol

Williams

Middlebury
Bowdoin
Dartmouth
Cornell
Johns Hopkins
Haverford
Georgetown
WashU

Honestly, I don’t think people on this site value liberal arts colleges enough… maybe it is just that they don’t have as much ‘prestige’ as large research universities but I think WASPMB have as many top kids as the ivies any day. So future applicants… apply to liberal arts schools!!

Background on me, I’m a science (biology) major with the stats to apply to some of these super reaches. This is technically my order, but I could see myself happy at any of these schools, and if accepted finances and other aspects may move around my preferences. If you want more info go ahead and check my chance me profile :)

1) Stanford
2) Pomona
3) Caltech
4) Harvey-Mudd
5) UPenn
6) MIT
7)Brown
8) Bodwoin
9) Various UCs (UCSD, UCB, and UCLA are my tops. Also applying to UCSB and UCSC as backups)
10)UMich (3rd gen legacy)

Might also apply to Duke, Swarthmore, Reed, and UChicago

@Ambitious19, I agree with gondalineNJ’s observations on your “realistic” list. Granted I know nothing about your statistics, so this may be moot, but I’d also caution you thinking Rice is “realistic” for you because you are double legacy. IMHO legacy status is helpful at the margin, but you still have to have a quality application in all other areas to be accepted. Also, legacy is most powerful if used for an early decision application. If you wait until regular decision to play that card, it may not give you much help at all.

Interesting to see the difference in level of college choices here on CC versus “the rest of the high school world”. We’re a top 5% public high school in Ohio, and by far the bulk of the kids at our HS end up going to Ohio St, Miami of Ohio, Ohio Univ and Kent State. A minority of our kids end up going to private colleges, and probably an even smaller amount end up going to college out of state.

It’s refreshing to see “wish lists” from the HS CCers here that have a fair amount of stretch choices on them!..and that the bulk of you are considering some out of state schools too.

Rice isn’t as random though.

My friend has Princeton and Yale in mind, but he’s taking PE all 4 years when the requirement is only 1 and he doesn’t try in his classes.

Plan to major in Econ and take med school prereqs. 3.75 unweighted GPA. 1990 SAT (670M/670CR/650W…will retake and improve). Fairly good ECs with sports, work experience, coaching. Will have taken 8 APs, very strong history, English, and science record.
