All I can say is thanks to everyone for this thread. We’re renting a house at the beach for Labor Day weekend. (Plus we have a backyard pool that’s finally warm enough to swim in.) I have 2 or 3 Miraclesuit tankinis I’ve had for 8-9 years and am looking for some new ideas. I sunburn like crazy so I just bought a long sleeve rash guard from LandsEnd and a pair of swim shorts. I’m sorely tempted to go back and get a pair of swim leggings as well. (I never knew swim leggings even were a thing.)
I have two tankini suits from LLBean…purchased about 6 years ago. Never exposed to Chlorine. One is a red floral print, and the other blue. Small flowers. Very comfy.
I heat my pool to 86 degrees Memorial Day to Labor Day
No pool heater.
We have a pool heater but it’s just been overcast for weeks that it isn’t worth hearing it yet. I’m hoping the bit of sun we have today will stick around.
I did not know that was a thing??? I just set mine to 86 degrees and it goes on for a few minutes everyday when the filter runs. When it gets really hot later in the summer, the heater doesn’t go on at all.
Stop whining about the water temps in your pools! We have a lake. It’s been a chilly spring with very chilly nights. Water temp is 69. Last year by July 4, it was 80. I’m not holding my breath!
On addition to my bathing suits, I have a large wardrobe of coverup dresses. I wear them just about every day all summer!
I have three Lands End high neck tankini tops and two high waist bottoms (black and navy). I wear these to the beach because I know I will be there all day and need to go to the bathroom. I live on the Jersey Shore and go to the beach twice a week during the summer. For travel I have a couple of LL Bean tanks but they are faded and stretched. Got to get some new ones.
I got a sale Johnny Was at the end of last summer. I did not know Lands End had them, too, or that would have been an option. The one I bought is very pretty and was half off.
I ordered a pair from Lands End. They were on sale so I figured worth ordering.
I’ll look on Johnny Was as I like their prints.
@lizHolt and others who wear LE. Do you go by your bra size for the top and pants size bottom? I hate not being able to try on as I am busty so low cut tops are not great. Can’t wear tops with shelves comfortably. And somewhat pear shaped so bottoms can be a challenge. I often find I have to go up a size or more in swim suits.
I tend to wear 2 piece with a skirted bottom or shorts. Think I will order the LE board shorts as I like that look better than the skirt.
I go one size up for LE’s suits from my dress size.
LOL - dress size for me(pear shaped) varies so much by brand and style…. I can be a size 4, 6, 8 or 10 (and once in a while a 2 or 12).
Same for me.
I go up one size from what fits from Land’s End. And honestly I could probably have gone up two sizes on top.
We have an LL Bean store about an hour away. I would rather have Lands End. (I did like it when we had a Sears store, easy for LE returns).
The internet might have noticed my looking at bathing suits. This came as an ad. Of course many of the styles are better suited to younger folk.
What I love about Prima Donna suits is that they are sold as individual pieces, and the sizing matches their undies sizing. I know precisely that if I buy a bra-sized top in my size, it will fit!
Target is not a bad place for suits if you can find the one that fits you! My sizes fly off their shelves quickly.
I like that at Target you can try on in store but also have option to order more sizes/colors online. In my case, I brought 4 home and let my husband pick his favorite.
I also like Target bathing suits because you can buy tops and bottoms separately. They have a much wider size range on-line. Even better, bathing suits are 30% off on-line through 6/24.
I have a Lands End swim dress in cup size from several years ago. I don’t wear it often but it still works.
