what book has made the most difference in your life?

this time give the honest truth,
and not just what you're writing on college apps

personally my most influential book was
"shut up stop whining and get a life" by larry winget (sp?)
it inspired me to lose 30 pounds :)

and then of course the physics, calculus etc textbooks...

I just Googled…or um, maybe “Amazoned” (?) that Larry Winget guy, I noticed he posts comments on all negative reviews of his books, haha.

I think Generations, just on the way that I view history in general and why the events of the world occur.

Overthrow, by Stephen Kinzer.

I now understand all the anti-Americanism in Latin America.

In all honesty Harry Potter. That series made me love reading and has consumed quite a bit of my life because of the books and movies. I am not alone in this either, I assume by the number of people at Emagine when I saw the midnight release of the Half Blood Prince. :P

Confessions of a Street Adict by James J. Cramer

Dr. Seuss. I could barely read, but my mom had me read a ton of Dr. Seuss books with her and that changed my life.

@ Kram: Although, Harry Potter is definitely a close one here, it made me love reading quite a bit.

Either This Side of Paradise (By F.Scott Fitzgerald) or The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas)

The Freedom Writers. Best book ever!!! I cried when I read it. Harry Potter is a close 2nd tho

The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides

I am almost willing to bet it changed my whole life.

I can’t remember the name but there was this book my class was assigned to read back in middle school (…I know) about this woman who as among the first blacks to intergrate into white schools in the 50s, in Mobile Alabama.

I can’t remember the title but it was really interesting.

The Christmas Sweater…

And no one kill me, but The New Testament.

musicallylatin:

If anyone has a problem with you saying The New Testament when that is your honest answer and doesn’t affect them in anyway, they need to get over it. Don’t worry about what other people think-- they are entitled to name any religious, non-religious, or anti-religious books they want without being judged by you. So they should return the favor and not judge you.

I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell

By: Tucker Max

The Art of Problem Solving =P. After that, Harry Potter.

Harry Potter. Made me learn English :-)

After that,“The Feynman Lectures”. Made me fall in love with physics.

Actually, I was just meaning, I didn’t want to get in a Bible bashing conversation… Which tends to happen occasionally on here.

Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story.

I loved this book when I read it a few years back, and I decided that for sure I want to go into some medical field. I really enjoy that book; it lets you see how he coped with being poor, black, and struggling to learn. Very inspiring :)

Oh, Rocket Boys had me balling…

I guess I’m overly senttimental,k but I loved that book. Then there’s a local favorite no one else has heard of, Charly. It’s poorly written, but it’s still amazing.

the catcher in the rye!
a classic.
